How to Prevent Pipe-Tobacco-Smoke Odor
It may be a calming pastime, but the aftermath of smoking a pipe is far from relaxing when trying to eliminate the trace of tobacco smoke. Pipe-tobacco smoke lingers in the air and on clothing, upholstery, carpets and hard surfaces. Prevent the smoke scent from settling in by choosing an airy place to enjoy your pipe in and by maintaining that space with odor eaters and cleaning products. Does this Spark an idea?

- Fan
- Air purifier
- Jars or bowls
- Baking soda
- Charcoal or vinegar (optional)
- Air fresheners
- Vacuum
- Mop
- Scented household cleaners
- Odor-eating laundry detergent
- Scented dryer sheets

Smoke your tobacco pipe outside or near an open window. If smoking inside, use a fan to blow the smoke out of the open window. This helps prevent odors from setting into fabrics, carpets and walls.

Place an air purifier in your smoking room to filter smoky air.

Fill jars or bowls with baking soda, white vinegar or charcoal and place them where you smoke pipe tobacco to absorb odors. Replace odor eaters every two weeks.

Use odor-eating air fresheners such as sprays, candles or plug-ins.

Pour baking soda over furniture fabrics and carpets where you smoke pipe tobacco and allow to sit for about three hours to absorb smoke odors. Vacuum the baking soda.

Mop floors and dust furniture with scented household cleaners to remove smoke residue that promotes lingering odors. Clean clothing, linens and curtains with an odor-eating laundry detergent and use scented dryer sheets.
