How to Write a Mothers Day Card

Creating your own Mother's Day card allows you to truly express how you feel.

Sometimes store-bought Mother's Day cards are too corny, too sappy or not quite fitting for your mom and your personality. Instead of going through the stress and tedium of looking for that perfect card for your mother and spending five dollars on it, just write one yourself. Making a card can be more personable and meaningful. A handwritten, personalized note will likely be a gift your mother will hang onto or display all year long.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a heavyweight piece of paper or blank card for the card creation. If you have resume paper or blank stationery in your house, you can use that too.

    • 2

Start the note with a statement that opens the subject of Mother's Day. For example, say, "Mom, I am happy to be spending Mother's Day with you" or, "Happy Mother's Day, Mom." Search the Internet for a line of poetry or a statement that relates to how you feel about your mother. Conduct a Web search for "Mother's Day poetry" and you are sure to find something that will work for you.

    • 3

Gather your thoughts together or the piece of poetry you will use for the body of your note. Write your message clearly on the paper. If you decide not to use poetry, reminisce on the memorable times you've shared together with your mother, or thank her for something she has done for you recently. Write an offer to take her to lunch or out for a cup of coffee.

    • 4

Close the note with an expression of affection, according to the relationship you share with your mother or what matches your personality. For example, conclude with, "I love you," "With Love" or, "I am blessed to have you in my life."
