First and foremost, make sure you are acutely familiar with the product and have spent ample time using it. Your review should be based on your own personal experience with the product, not second-hand information or biased information.

Give full product information and description so readers know exactly which product you are referring to, especially if there are multiple models or versions in the product line. Include company name and where you purchased the product, if applicable. Remember to list brands and model names or numbers so readers can quickly know exactly what product you are referring to.

What does the product promise and most importantly, does it fulfill that promise? Give the "whys" of any claims you make; simply stating that it is a poor or deficient product doesn't suffice. Consumers need detailed and thorough information as to why or why not the product.

Be descriptive when it comes to how the product works. Describe how you personally use it and whether or not it's user-friendly (i.e. did it take you 20 minutes to figure out how to operate it?). Mention the aesthetic and physical features of the product and if there are any convenient, additional uses that maybe it wasn't originally intended to do.

Is the product a good value and if so, for whom? For example, perhaps you're reviewing a basic anti-theft laptop device that would be ideal for college students with laptops since it's relatively low-cost and can thwart theft.

Most products have both positives and negatives, so even if you feel completely satisfied with the product, list both the pros and cons you found while using the product. An reputable, informative review will provide both views in detail and relatively unbiased.
