Introduce the letter L by showing your child the outline of the letter. Practice saying the sound made by the letter L. Talk about objects that start with the letter L.

Explore leaves around the neighborhood. Gather leaves if possible. Take pictures of leaves. If you gathered leaves, take them home and make leaf rubbings. Place a piece of paper over the leaf and gently color over it with a crayon.

Take a field trip to a lake. Look for other items that start with the letter L such as logs and leaves. Take pictures of your trip to the lake and make a book out of the pictures when you get home.

Step 4
Make homemade lemonade or limeade. Cut the fruit in half and have your child help squeeze out the juice. Add some sugar and stir well. You can also use the lemonade to make popsicles.

Practice counting ladybugs. Cut out ladybugs from red paper or find ladybug stickers. Adhere different numbers of ladybugs to index cards. Write the number of ladybugs on the back of each card. Have your child practice counting the ladybugs.

Make a potato stamp ladybug. Cut a potato in half. Dip it into red paint. Stamp it on a piece of paper. Dip a fingertip in black paint. Make black spots on the ladybug.

Make a lion mask. Paint a paper plate with yellow paint. Help your child cut out eye holes. Cut pieces of yellow and brown yarn into 2 inch lengths. Make a line of glue around the edge of the plate. Have your child place the pieces of yarn on the glue to create the mane. Attach a string to the plate to hold the mask in place.
