Find New Music with Pandora Radio

Pandora Radio is an internet radio program that creates custom stations for you based on your musical preferences. Here's how to use Pandora Radio to find new music.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to Pandora.com and create an account for free.

  2. Step 2

Create a new station by typing in one of your favorite artists. The station you create will include songs and artists that are similar to that band. You can also add more bands to the mix by clicking "add variety" and typing in those bands. You can create as many stations as you like.

  3. Step 3

Listen to the songs and rate them. If you like a particular song, you can give it a thumbs up, and Pandora will know to play that song more often as well as songs similar to that one. If you dislike a song, give it a thumbs down, and Pandora will stop playing that song as well as similar songs. If you give a song a thumbs down twice, Pandora will not play that artist again on that station. You can also choose to have Pandora not play a certain song again for a month by clicking on the menu and choosing "Don't play this song for a month".

  4. Step 4

Find information about the music you're listening to by clicking on "About This Music". If you want to find out why a certain song was chosen for your station, click on the menu and then on "Why was this song selected?" and it will list some attributes of that song such as "Minor Key Tonality" or "Rock Influences", etc. Pandora uses the common attributes of the bands you've chosen for that station and provides new music with similar attributes. If there is a certain song attribute you'd like the station to include more of, give a song with that attribute a thumbs up.

  5. Step 5

If you'd like to include all of your stations into one station, click on "Quick Mix", and the program will mix together songs from all of your stations. You can also choose certain bands to not include in the mix.

  6. Step 6

Pandora does the work from here. Keep rating songs and Pandora will continue to provide you with new music.
