Things You'll Need:

  • Time and Patience!
  1. Step 1

Self esteem is important to your mental health and physical health! It can effect how you feel, think, and do. The first self-esteem building technique I will speak of has to do with facing fears and accepting change.

  2. Step 2

In order to change anything about yourself that you are unhappy about, you must face them. Realize what you are concerned about, and think about what you can do to help this. Some great methods of doing this is making a list, or rehearsing them with a friend. It helps to have the extra support of friends and family.

  3. Step 3

The second technique I will discuss is never allowing defeat. It's the simple 'try again' method, as used in children and teenagers, only magnified to your adult needs. You need to realize where you are defeated, and try again until you get it right. This will come in handy during school, work, and personal free-time activitys.

  4. Step 4

The final self-esteem building technique I will discuss is rewarding yourself whenever you can. Whether you are rewarding yourself for finishing your homework on time by allowing yourself to watch an hour of television, or rewarding yourself for recieving 'employee of the month' at work by going out to celebrate, this is crucial!

  5. Step 5

Following these simple techniques and methods, your self esteem should be built up in no time and you should be ready to face your problems with the confidence you never knew you had. Good luck!
