Use Moisturizer on Oily Skin

Do you think you need a moisturizer for oily skin? How oily is you skin? Why do you want moisturizer for your oily skin? Do you simply want a moisturizer or do you want one with anti-aging benefits? Asking yourself these questions is important to find the right moisturizer for you. Read below for tips on using a moisturizer on oily skin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Moisturizer
  • Sunscreen
  1. Step 1

Check to see if your oily skin only needs a sunscreen in the morning. Look to see if your skin looks or feels dry at nighttime, if not then just use the sunscreen in the morning. Use just a sunscreen, it is often good enough for oily skin.

  2. Step 2

Remember sunscreen is the best anti-aging product. Put a broad spectrum uva/uvb sunscreen on oily skin rain or shine. Keep trying until you find the right one for your skin, sunscreens do exist for oily skin types.

  3. Step 3

Try using a toner at night if need be, you may not need any more moisturizer than that. Find one that is alcohol free and if your skin does not feel tight, skip the moisturizer.

  4. Step 4

Buy a specific anti-aging product, such as retin-a or an over-the-counter retinoid product for anti-aging benefits.(see resources for retinoid tips) Apply a light moisturizer an hour afterwards, if the retin-a skin care product makes your oily skin dry or flakey.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be gentle with your skin.
  • Use your ring finger to dot moisturizer around eyes.
  • Love your oily skin, people with oily skin often age better than people with dry skin.
  • Always apply sunscreen, incidental sun exposure adds up the wrinkles.
  • Do not use moisturizer if you do not need it, sunscreen in the morning is all you need.
