Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Resume
  • Drive
  • A positive attitude
  1. Step 1

The first way is to update your resume. A resume is a document that list one's skill' s, qualifications, and employment history. It mat be good to have someone who specialize in doing resume' s help you. Be sure to list any promotions, raises, and achievement made and received at your previous job.

  2. Step 2

The second way is to go job hunting, you can search online at various different job search sites, such at Monster, and even Craigslist, you can post you newly updated resume, or you can search for job openings. You can also go to different business establishment asking if there hiring, filling out an application, dropping off your resume; and it’s a good idea to ask to speak to the hiring manager, you may get interviewed on the spot.

Another way to look for job openings is searching through the newspapers classifieds, and following up with all contacted employers shows you’re a go getter.

  3. Step 3

The third way to stay proactive is to enroll in class to stay updated in your career field, or to learn a knew craft, so you can qualify for more job openings; you never know you may find a new passion.

  4. Step 4

Fourth way is to attend conferences, which is again a good way to stay updated in your career field, and is a great way to network.

  5. Step 5

Fifth, become an intern, you may get a fulltime paid position out of it.

  6. Step 6

Become a volunteer in something that will allow you to use you skills, again keeping your skills fresh and updated; you know what they say "if you don't use it, you loose it", and you'll be doing something good for your community.

  7. Step 7

Start your own business, become your own boss. Some say that recessions are one of the best times to pursue your own business, when property, rental spaces, and other supplies and materials are more cost friendly. You can start your own consultant business in whatever your profession is.

  8. Step 8

Eight, demonstrate leadership shills, by starting up a group, or organization, also a great way to network.

  9. Step 9

Teach a class, which is also a great way to keep you skills fresh, and maybe make some money.

  10. Step 10

And the tenth way to stay proactive between jobs, is to just enjoy the time to yourself, and/or your family, take up a new hobbies, get in shape, clean your house, play with your kids, and spend time with your spouse.

All the ways to stay proactive that I mentioned will help build up additional skills, and qualifications to add to your resume, and to discuss in you next interview. GOOD LUCK
