Having pop-ups constantly popping up whenever you log into an internet site can be annoying as well as open your computer to an adware or malware attack. Keeping your computer protected by having your pop-up blocker on is a good idea in general. But what if you want to remove or temporarily delete the pop up blocker to allow pop ups from a particular site? Read on for directions how to manage this simple task.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  1. Step 1

To activate your pop-up blocker open a page in Internet Explorer and look for the tool bar menu along the top of the page and just below the url address line. Find the word "Tools" and click it. Part way down the list you should see a place to click called Pop-up Blocker. Click it.

  2. Step 2

Once you have clicked on the Pop-up Blocker under the Tools menu you can choose to turn it on or off with a single click. You can also click the Pop-Up Blocker Settings tab to enable certain sites of your choice access with their pop-ups.

  3. Step 3

Sometimes when you have the Pop-Up Blocker activated and you sign into certain websites looking for access to a variety of information you will have an information bar appear at the top of your page asking you to temporarily allow certain pop-ups and access to that site's data. If you are seeking information from that site just click the information bar to temporarily allow the pop-ups and when you leave the site your Pop-up Blocker will still be on to continue to prevent further pop-ups from appearing.

Both methods are an easy way to prevent annoying pop-ups and help to protect your computer from outside interference with your system.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to turn the Pop-up Blocker back on once you have completed the task you have set out to do by going back under the menu bar at the top and clicking the Pop-up Blocker tab to do so.
