Step 1
Ceiling Fans are a Must for Attic BedroomsFirst, decide where you want your bed to be. A good place would be off to one side of the attic bedroom and not in the middle of the room. Try to also pick a spot where the roof is higher, this way you will have room to install a ceiling fan over your bed. Attic bedrooms can get very hot in the summer months, even with central air conditioning, so you will really be glad that you have a fan over your bed when the summer heat kicks in.

Step 2
Attic Bedrooms have many nooks, perfect for a reading areaNow that your sleeping area is off to one side of your attic bedroom, you should have more space on the other side for a seating area. Choose a couple of comfortable chairs or a small sofa or loveseat, you want a cozy place to relax, but you don't want to overwhelm the space with furniture. Add some tables and lighting and you will have the perfect spot to curl up and read a good book.

Step 3
Curtains can help conceal an open attic bedroom closetHopefully, your attic bedroom already has a closet built in. But, I have seen many cape cods and bungalows with 'open closets'. Unless you are impeccably neat, your room will never look 'clean' if you are looking at everything in your closet. If this is what you are working with, you may want to conceal it with room dividers or even curtains. Also make use of all of those great cubby spaces that are on the sides of your attic bedroom. Change your clothes out with the seasons to help keep your closet less cluttered.
With a good design plan, your attic bedroom can become a beautiful, relaxing retreat.

on 5/13/2009 Good ideas here. I like hiding the clothes so the room won't look so cluttered. Thanks! :)
