How to Use Home Remedies to Treat Scalp Psoriasis

Psoriasis of the scalp is a skin condition that may clear itself (spontaneous remission), but it may also require treatment. Scalp Psoriasis may be treated using a number of home remedies:

1. Tar, which is derived from coal, can be used to inhibit the rapid proliferation of the skin cells which tends to cause the scaling associated with scalp psoriasis. It also treats itching and inflammation symptoms associated with this condition.

2. Apple cider vinegar is both disinfectant and anti-inflammatory, helping to treat bacterial infections of lesions in the scalp, as well as any inflammation. Simply mix one part vinegar with one part water and apply it to the scalp using a wash cloth.

3. Psoriasis generally improves with exposure to the sun, courtesy of UV rays. You do however have to be careful with regard to the skin cancer risk, and use sunscreen on skin which is unaffected by psoriasis.

4. Dissolve some Dead Sea salt into one quart of water and use it as a rinse for your hair. You can also mix it into your shampoo or conditioner.

5. Buttermilk used as a compress on the scalp can be soothing for psoriasis. It also helps to include buttermilk as a regular part of your diet.
