Microsoft Word has a feature that will display the statistics of your document by clicking on Tools in the menu bar and choosing Word Count. This will give you the number of pages, words, characters, etc. in your document.

But if you need to know how many times a specific word occurs in your Microsoft Word document, then you will need to use Microsoft Word's "Find" feature for this.

Count Specific WordsWith your MS Word document open, press CTRL+F (or go to Edit > Find). This will display the Find dialog box.

Count Word OccurencesType the word that you want to find the number of occurrences for in the "Find What" box, and check the box next to "Highlight all items found in".

Number of Times a Word AppearsTo find out how many times the specific word appears in your document, press the "Find All" button. You will see the number of times the word appears in your MS Word document displayed in the Find dialog box. When you're done, just click "Close".
