How to Make 7 Point Pasta with Meat Sauce for Weight Watchers

When prepared as directed, this delicious recipe for Pasta with Meat Sauce has authentic Italian taste while using only 7 Weight Watcher points per serving. For a vegetarian version of this low point dinner, try substituting 3 ounces of meatless soy crumbles (12 oz for 4 servings).

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 oz 93% lean ground beef or turkey
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup canned, Italian Style diced tomatoes
  • Pinch of dried basil
  • 3/4 cup cooked whole wheat pasta
  1. Step 1

    Pre-heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat.

  2. Step 2

    When the oil is ready, add the onion and minced garlic and sauté until lightly brown

  3. Step 3

    After browning the onions you are ready for the meat. Add the meat to the mixture and continue to cook over medium heat for 4 minutes until the meat has become browned.

  4. Step 4

    Add the diced tomatoes and basil. Continue to simmer the entire mixture over medium heat for 10 minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Serve over top of the cooked whole wheat pasta.

  6. Step 6

    This recipe is for 1 serving of the pasta with meat sauce. To make 4 servings simply increase the quantities as follows:

    12 oz 93% lean ground beef
    4 tsp olive oil
    2 tsp minced garlic
    1 cup chopped onion
    14.5 oz can, Italian style diced tomatoes
    1/2 tsp dried basil
    3 cups cooked whole wheat pasta

Tips & Warnings
  • For a vegetarian version substitute 3 oz (per serving) of soy crumbles for the meat
  • This recipe has 7 Weight Watcher points per serving
