Step 1
Visit the money.cnn.com website to find a list of 28 Fortune 100 companies who are currently hiring workers. (There is a link in the resources section below.)
-
Step 2
Scroll through the list to see which companies are hiring, the number of openings they have, and which kind of workers they are looking for. Take note of the location of the headquarters as well, in case any are located in or near your city.
-
Step 3
Based on the above information, choose which companies are a good match for you based on your skills and geographical location. Keep in mind, however, that just because a company is headquartered in a particular city and state, doesn’t mean they don’t have openings in other locations. In fact, based on the size of these companies, the odds are good that they do.
-
Step 4
Visit the websites of the companies you chose in the step above. Find where job openings are listed on the website. A common location is under ‘About Us’ on the website. There is often a ‘Careers’ section there.
-
Step 5
Browse the listings and apply for any that are of interest to you. Bookmark the site so you can easily come back to it at a later date.
-
Step 6
Using the information found by using the steps above, brainstorm any additional companies you can think of that might be hiring. Other companies in the same industry, for instance. Certain geographical locations may be overly represented as well, making them a good place to look for job openings.

on 5/9/2009 Great article on finding top companies that are hiring especially for a college student like myself. I have been trying to set up a good job for when I graduate in December with a bachelor's degree. Thanks
