Step 1
Talk to the bride to find out what type of activities/atmosphere she is looking for. Also discuss available dates with her and other members of the wedding party. From that point on, don't involve her at all so it's all a surprise!
-
Step 2
Decide on the location of the event and the main activities.
-
Step 3
To cut costs, consider alternatives to hotels. Possibilities include renting a cabin (or better yet--using a family member or friend's cabin!) or house, or basing the party out of one of the bridesmaid's houses.
-
Step 4
To save money on activities, consider local events that are free or low cost, such as wine tastings (delegate a designated driver rather than hiring a limo), semi-professional sporting events (arena football, hockey games), or an activity that you all enjoyed together as children (like riding bikes or miniature golf). If you want to do a spa theme, check the area for beauty schools/academies that will offer discounted rates.
-
Step 5
Rather than buying bachelorette party-specific games and decorations, first check with friends/coworkers/family that may have those things or know someone who does. Make what you can yourself, like the veil for the bachelorette to wear. Check websites like Craigslist or Ebay for used games or decorations at major discounts.
-
Step 6
Instead of going out to a pricey dinner with drinks, consider making dinner together as one of the activities for the party. Everyone could pitch in to make a great theme dinner, such as aphrodisiacs or phallic shaped foods! Making drinks rather than buying them out will save tons!
-
Step 7
Rather than buying a gift at a pricey department store, go to outlet stores, such as Ross or TJ Maxx, for things like lingerie.
-
Step 8
If you do go out, make the bachelorette a "Suck for a Buck" t-shirt or a candy necklace, and she could actually end up making money!
