Things You'll Need:
- Sports Mouth Guard
- Hot Water
- Scissors
-
Step 1
Sports Mouth GuardRemove the guard fro the packaging. You will need to trim away the attached strap using household scissors.
-
Step 2
Trim Away ExcessNext try the fit in your mouth. It may be too long in the back where your teeth end, ore too much material on your gums. Be careful and only trim if there is an excessive amount in the areas. You will trim more later.
-
Step 3
Hot WaterNow you need to heat water. I heated a cup of water in the microwave for one minute. Be careful not to heat the water to boiling. You don’t want it to hot. Drop the mouth piece in the hot water. After 20 seconds if the mouth piece does not seem to soften, then you need to heat it a little more. The mouth piece should be flexible and slightly pliable and not too hot to touch.
-
Step 4
Night GuardOnce it is soft enough quickly place the mouth piece on your upper teeth and bite down slightly. Enough to make a full impression of your teeth without biting through the mouth guard. Once you are satisfied with the fit then immerse in cold water. Trim any excess if necessary. Now you have a temporary night guard.
