Making a sand castle at the beach is fun. With this clay you can make a sand castle at home. If you let your castle dry, it will last for a very long time. You can even move it from place to place. Try that with regular beach sand!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup sand
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup liquid starch
  • An old pot you don’t care about
  1. Step 1

In the old pot mix the sand and the cornstarch. Add the liquid starch now too. Put the pot on the stove burner which has been turned to medium heat.

  2. Step 2

Stir and keep stirring. Make sure it does not burn. When the mixture is the consistency of clay, you can remove the pot from the heat and let it cool down.

  3. Step 3

When the sand clay is cool to the touch, take it out of pot and squish in between your fingers. Knead the sand clay for a few minutes until it is soft enough to sculpt.

  4. Step 4

Now your ready to make sand castles, sculptures, figures, etc. Use your imagination and have fun!

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep any mixture you want to play with later in an airtight container. Then it should be ready to be used again.
  • Really use an old pot. It is hard to clean.
