One of the best ways to supplement your income is through affiliate marketing. Indeed, some people are fortunate enough to make a nice living just through affiliate sales. But how do they do it? This article provides a few pointers to help you increase your affiliate sales.

Things You'll Need:

  • A good product to promote
  • A computer
  • Persistence
  • Willingness to learn
  1. Step 1

First, you have to have a product to sell. With affiliate marketing, you don't have to create your own; you just sell someone else's for a portion of the sales. You can find products by joining any number of programs, such as Clickbank or Commission Junction. These are free to join and the options are endless. Just be sure to promote something that you are passionate about because people will see right through you if you don't believe in what you are selling.

  2. Step 2

Find your niche and create a blog about it. Write about topics that are related to your affiliate products, and promote your products with your blog. If you are really internet savvy, create your own website with the same idea in mind.

  3. Step 3
A teaser that leads to a longer copy
A teaser that leads to a longer copy

Write longer articles and copy. Longer copy sells! To sell my new book, for example, I created an attractive "teaser" on the first page of my website that has a link to a longer copy as well as to a preview of the book. Note that my teaser is more than a sentence or two.

  4. Step 4
Sign up form for my website, Planet Voodoo.

Invest in an autoresponder and build your email list. You have to have someone to sell to, and placing a sign up form on your blog and website is the way to go. Offer a free report related to your niche to entice people to sign-up. If you are an artist like me, create an attractive sign up form that reels people in.

  5. Step 5

If you can't write very well, there are places where you can find and use articles for free. You can let someone else do the work and put their articles on your blog and website. Many times affiliate programs provide you with articles and email campaigns so all you have to do is cut and paste.

  6. Step 6
    Testimonial page at Planet Voodoo

Gather testimonials from your customers. Send out an email asking for people to visit your blog or site and add their testimonial on a form you provide or by responding to a blog post. Alternately, you can ask them to email a testimonial to you and then you can put it wherever you wish. Savvy internet marketers often put customer testimonial smack dab in the middle of their long copy.

  7. Step 7

Make use of the affiliate tools provided by the programs you join. Use the articles, banners, artwork, videos, text ads, and anything else they have developed to sell their product.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do your homework and learn about the products you sell. People are more apt to buy from you if they believe you are an expert in your niche.
  • You have to promote your products. Just because you put up a blog about something doesn;t mean it will sell. Promote it with Facebook, Twitter, Digg, etc. whenever you add something new.
