Some recipes call for peeled tomatoes. But just how do you do that? You may be surprised at how easy it actually is! Just follow these simple steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pot of water
  • stove
  • large heat-safe bowl
  1. Step 1

Fill a large pot with enough water to cover your tomatoes (but do not place them in the water), and bring that water to a boil.

  2. Step 2

Place the tomatoes into a large, heat-safe bowl. You will use this bowl to soak them in the boiling water, so it's important that it be heat-safe.

  3. Step 3

Pour the boiling water over the tomatoes. Let them sit for a few moments, until you see the skins begin to crack and peel away from the tomato.

  4. Step 4

Using a slotted spoon, take the tomatoes out of the water and place them on a heat-safe surface to cool.

  5. Step 5

Once you can handle them safely, peel the skin off the tomatoes. The skin should very easily come off.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the skin doesn't peel easily, you will need to dunk them in the water again.
  • The water must be boiling hot.
