Things You'll Need:
- Large scarf, purchased or hand made.
-
Step 1
Begin with a scarf approximately 2 yards wide by 1.5 yards tall. For an average sized person, this will compose a dress that will fall about mid-calf.
Fabric can be of varying weight and “sheerness” factor. Experiment with different weight fabrics to change how the dress hangs and drapes. -
Step 2
Hold the scarf in both hands, with the width extended across the back of your body, arms straight out.
-
Step 3
Cross over and tie behind neckCross the corners of the scarf that are in your hands across the front of your body, forming an X. (see photo).
-
Step 4
Gently draping lengthBring these two corners around the back of your neck and tie.
The scarf will drape across the front of your body, with the fringe, or finished edge, hanging down one side. The other edge is layered beneath, hanging down the opposite side of your body. (See photo). -
Step 5
Scarf dress from backFrom the back, the scarf will be draped loosely across your shoulder blades, with the tie visible across the back of your neck. (see back photo).
That’s it! A simply beautiful and elegant flowing dress.
