Trail mix is a great snack when you are busy and need something you can eat on the go. Buying the right trail mix is sometimes hard. The best way to ensure you have the perfect trail mix is to mix it yourself!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cereal
  • Nuts
  • Dried fruit
  1. Step 1

Choose your favorite cereal for the base of your trail mix. Ones that work well: Honey Nut Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs, FiberOne Honey Clusters, Shredded Mini-Wheats, Fruit Loops, Corn Flakes.

  2. Step 2

Choose nuts to complement the cereal you chose above. Ones that work well: Almonds, Walnuts, Pecans, Hazelnuts, Macadamia nuts, Peanuts, cashews, mixed nuts.

  3. Step 3

Choose a dried fruit for your final basic ingredient. Ones that work well: raisins, bananas, apples, cranberries, apricots, pineapple.

  4. Step 4

Be creative! You can also add things such as crackers (example: Goldfish, cheez-its, wheat thins, triscuits) or candy (example: M&Ms, licorice bites, Milk Duds, Junior Mints, chocolate chips). Experiment until you find your favorite trail mix!

  5. Step 5

Pour your cereal into a large container. Mix in your other chosen ingredients. Cover and store.

  6. Step 6

You can separate your trail mix into ziploc bags for snacks to take on the go.
