Many baby's bottle feed, but do you know how to properly prepare your child's bottle? In this article you will learn how to properly prepare your baby's bottle so that you won't introduce bacteria into your child's feed time.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sterile bottle
  • formula
  • water
  1. Step 1

    You should start with clean hands. Anytime you prepare your child's bottle you should wash your hands thoroughly. You should also have already sterile bottles at hand.

  2. Step 2

    You should check the expiration date on the can of formula first to make sure that it has not expired. Wash the tops of the can off before opening.

  3. Step 3

    Fill a bottle with correct ounces of water. You don't have to use sterile water. You can use tap if you choose to.

  4. Step 4

    Add the correct amount of formula to the water in the bottle. You should follow the instructions on the can of formula to make sure you are using the correct amount.

  5. Step 5

    Put the nipple on the bottle and shake well. Shake the bottle until all the powder has dissolved. Make sure you cover the hole in the nipple so the formula does not go all over the place.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can serve the bottle at room temperature.
  • If you want to warm the bottle you should use a pan with warm water and let the bottle sit in the water for a few minutes.
  • Make sure that you always cover the formula can right away.
  • You can keep already made bottles in the refrigerator, refer to the can to see how long the formula is good in the fridge for.
  • You should not keep a bottle of un-used formula for longer than one hour
  • You should never use a microwave to warm your baby's bottle. Using microwaves causes hot spots in the formula and it can burn your child's mouth.
  • You should discard the bottle after the baby is done eating.
  • Don't refrigerate a bottle that the baby has already eaten off of.
  • Giving a child an old bottle of formula can make them sick.
