Bathroom Cabinet

If you want to spruce up your bathroom while adding some extra storage space, installing a bathroom cabinet is a good place to start. Here's how to add value to your home and space to your place by installing a bathroom cabinet.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bathroom cabinet
  • Level
  • Stud finder
  • Wood screws
  • Pencil
  • Phillips Head screwdriver
  • Toggle bolts
  • Drill w/8-inch drill bit
  1. Step 1

Using your drill with 1/8" drill bit attached, drill four holes through the back of the bathroom cabinet in each of the four corners.

  2. Step 2

Use your stud finder to locate a wall stud. Alternatively, you can tap on the wall until it sounds solid rather than hollow.

  3. Step 3

Lift bathroom cabinet and place against wall where you want to hang it, making sure to align the cabinet with at least one stud. Hold cabinet in place, or have someone hold it in place for you.

  4. Step 4

Grab your level and place it on top of the bathroom cabinet. If the cabinet is not level, adjust until the bubble rests in the middle.

  5. Step 5

Remove level while holding the bathroom cabinet in place. Using your pencil, mark on the wall the top of the cabinet and where each of the four screws will be inserted.

  6. Step 6

Remove bathroom cabinet and drill holes into the wall where marked using your drill with 1/8" drill bit.

  7. Step 7

Place bathroom cabinet against wall and align with the top of the cabinet markings and the drill holes.

  8. Step 8

Grab wood screws and screw into the back of the bathroom cabinet. Start with the stud side first.

  9. Step 9

If drill holes went through drywall rather than a stud, use anchor bolts to fasten bathroom cabinet to wall. In this case, you will need to drill a hole large enough to fit the diameter of the anchor bolt.

  10. Step 10

Once the bathroom cabinet is fastened to the wall, clean the cabinet with a rag and you're ready to place medicines, towels, or washcloths inside.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may want to add a third screw to the top rail inside the bathroom cabinet for extra support.
  • Make sure bathroom cabinet is level and is securely attached to the wall.
