How to Set Up a Facebook Account
Facebook has over 500 million active users, according to the Facebook website. Facebook helps you keep in touch with friends and family, but the social-networking site also gives you new virtual friendship opportunities. The average Facebook profile connects with 80 different community pages or events, helping users get involved in fun local activities. Open your Web browser and go to facebook.com. Enter your first and last names, email address and desired password into the boxes on under the "Sign Up" section on the Facebook home page.

Click on the drop-down box labeled "Select Sex" and select your gender.

Enter your birth month, day and year using the drop-down boxes.

Click the "Sign Up" button at the bottom of the page.

Check your email inbox. You will receive a new email from Facebook. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder.

Open the email and click on the account activation link. When you click this link, your email address is confirmed and you are automatically logged into your new Facebook account. Fill out your details, including education, employment, interests and hobbies. Use the Friend Suggestion tool to send friend requests. Upload a profile photo.
