In this article, you will learn how to wear a business suit properly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Put on the dress shirt. Make sure it is wrinkle-free. Button all buttons except for the collar buttons (if you have them). Check for those "extra" buttons on the sleeve.

  2. Step 2

Put on your pants. Tuck the shirt inside your pants so that the shirt does not bunch up. Make sure to button any buttons on the inside of your pants and zip them up all the way. The waist of your pants should be your "natural" waist, located at navel level. (This may feel odd if you are accustomed to wearing jeans or other low-riding pants.)

  3. Step 3

Put your belt, socks, and shoes on. Look in the mirror to see that your pants are at your natural waist, your shirt is smooth and wrinkle-free, and your belt buckle is centered. See that your shoes are shined and that your pants cuffs brush the top of your shoes.

  4. Step 4

Tie your tie. The tip of the tie should rest at your belt buckle. Button your collar buttons (if you have them). Put on your coat. The bottom button always remains unbuttoned. The rest of the buttons should be buttoned when standing, unbuttoned when sitting. A properly fitted coat is comfortably loose but not baggy. The coat should extend to the end of your curled fingers when your arms are relaxed.
