Step 1
By default the Windows main task bar is located at the bottom of the screen. It is also by default always shown along with details of the applications open, clock and various other Icons based on your system setup.
-
Step 2
To have the task bar hidden and pop up when you hover your mouse over that area of the screen you need to change one of its default properties.
-
Step 3
Right click on an empty part of the task bar, so anywhere there is not already an icon or program running. I typically select the far right by the clock. When you right click a menu will appear.
-
Step 4
Select Properties from this menu. Windows will then show a new popup box that lists the properties of the Task bar. You will notice an option called ‘Auto-hide the taskbar’. There will be a check box to the left of this text and will be unchecked. Click the check-box and it will have a tick mark in it.
-
Step 5
Click OK at the bottom of that dialog box. You will now notice that your task bar has disappeared. Just hover your mouse over the bottom of the screen and it will return. Now you have extra space and less too look at on the screen.
