Sometimes the ignition lock cylinder becomes defective and needs to be replaced. This only complicates the process if you have no idea how to remove the ignition lock cylinder. To reduce the stress of finding out how to remove the ignition lock cylinder in a Saturn S-Series, just follow the steps below to get started.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Remove the plastic piece surrounding the ignition lock cylinder.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the screws that holds the plastic piece on the steering column together. Two of them are on deep wells. You can file down the tool to loosen those screws.

  3. Step 3

    Use a flat tip screwdriver to pry open the two plastic pieces apart. Separate the two halves.

  4. Step 4

    Insert the key into the lock cylinder and turn it to the accessory position. Take a small screwdriver Go above the lock cylinder and there’s a little tab. Press in that tab and pull out the ignition lock cylinder. That’s it. You are done.
