If you're planning to attend the 2010 Olympics or Paralympics, it literally pays to find Vancouver hotels or housing early. This article will provide information for the different housing accommodations available in Vancouver to help you decide which is best for your needs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

VANCOUVER HOTELS - To find Vancouver hotels for 2010 Olympics, you have several choices available to help in the search. If you have a trusted travel agent, start there. If not, do a Google search online for Vancouver hotels.

Regardless of the method of search, you should remember to look for a hotel that is preferably within walking distance of the Vancouver SkyTrain's 33 stations. (See link below resources for more info on Canada's TransLink systems.)

VANCOUVER HOMETELS - If budget is a concern and your travel party is small, you may want to consider looking for Vancouver housing in the form of hometels. You should know that a hometel is a relatively new term representing a combination of home and motel.

Stay in a hometel if you desire a quiet environment by renting a private room in someone's home. Visit istopover.com to look over their available accomodations.

Note this website is basically a convenient meeting place between host and guest. You'll see the amenities are spelled out in the individual listings. For your convenience, be aware that Paypal is an accepted form of payment and no money is taken out of your account until the conclusion of your stay.

For those still wary, check out the Guest Agreement and terms on the website for more particulars. If you wish to use this form of housing for the 2010 Olympics, you should make your reservations early.

  3. Step 3

VANCOUVER HOUSING - Search Craigslist.com in the Vancouver area or makeyourselfathome.com for available housing rentals during the 2010 Olympics. If you are traveling with a large party, this type of housing may be the affordable and ideal choice for you.

Whether you choose Vancouver hotels or other housing for 2010 Olympics, start your search early. If you're lucky enough to have family or friends living in Vancouver, you should probably start asking them now if you haven't already. :) Go U.S.A.!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't already have a VISA card, apply for one. VISA is the only accepted form of payment online for tickets to the 2010 Olympics.
  • Note that as of June 1, 2009 anyone traveling into Canada by any means of transport, will need a current Passport or equivalent travel document.
