Instructions

    • 1

Ask your doctor about the STATdose system. This system was design to assist in the administration of an Imitrex injection. This may be available from your doctor or from your pharmacist.

    • 2

Use the STATdose system to administer your Imitrex injection. This system includes a carrying case and two syringes which will assist you in taking your subcutaneous shot. The shot is relatively mild as it is not a large needle.

    • 3

Clean the area of skin, usually in the upper outside arm, with rubbing alcohol prior to administering the Imitrex injection.

    • 4

Open the Imitrex injection carrying case and pull off the tamper-proof packaging from one of the Imitrex cartridge packs. Open the lid of the cartridge. Pull the unused STATdose cartridge from the carrying case.

    • 5

Load the STATdose pen by inserting it into the cartridge and turning it clockwise. The cartridge is loaded when you are no longer able to turn the pen clockwise.

    • 6

Gently pull the loaded Imitrex pen out of the carrying case. The blue button on the side triggers the injection. There is a safety feature that does not allow the injection to be triggered unless it is against your skin

    • 7

Hold the loaded Imitrex pen to the area that you have cleaned to receive the shot. Push the blue button on the side of the Imitrex pen. To make sure you receive all of the medicine, you must hold the pen still for 5 seconds.

    • 8

Follow safety procedures and return the used Imitrex injection needle to the cartridge. Insert the pen once again into the cartridge. This time turn it counterclockwise to loosen the needle. Remove the empty STATdose pen from the cartridge and store it once again in the carrying case.

    • 9

Replace the cartridge pack after both doses of Imitrex have been used. Simply discard the pack and insert a new refill.
