Choose your favorite scent or combination of scents to make your very own scented fragrance oil. Use your scented fragrance oil as a massage oil or as a perfume. Or apply a few drops of the scented fragrance oil to a cloth to make a scented cloth that can be used inside of closets or drawers to enhance the scent of the area. Fragrance oils made from natural essential oils are non-toxic, so you can feel good about using them.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dark glass bottle with cap
  • Unscented massage oil
  • Essential oil
  • Funnel
  1. Step 1

Pour unscented massage oil through a funnel into a dark glass bottle. Fill the bottle up to 3/4 full to allow room for the essential oil and mixing. The dark glass protects the fragrance oil from the sun so that it does not lose its scent.

  2. Step 2

Choose which essential oils you want to use to make your fragrance oil. You can use one or more essential oils. To test your scent before you make your fragrance oil, hold the essential oils in front of your nose to determine what the combined scents will smell like. Experiment with different combinations until you find the scent you like the best. Note: the essential oils are concentrated and have a strong smell; the scent will tone down when it is added to the massage oil.

  3. Step 3

Add one drop of essential oil at a time to the massage oil. Put the cap on the glass bottle, and gently shake the mixture to combine the oils between each drop. Smell the fragrance oil before adding more drops. Adding too many drops of essential oil will make the scent of your fragrance oil too strong. If you accidentally add too much essential oil, dilute the mixture by adding more unscented massage oil.

  4. Step 4

Shake the fragrance oil gently before use to ensure that the oil blend is thoroughly mixed.

  5. Step 5

Use your fragrance oil as a massage oil or as a perfume. When using it as a perfume, apply it to the folds of your skin where your body is the warmest. As your body heats up throughout the day, it will release the pleasant fragrance oil scent.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use peanut or safflower oil in place of massage oil to save money. Shop at your local health food store to find a variety of natural essential oils and unscented massage oils.
  • Store the fragrance oil away from extreme heat to avoid degradation of the oils.
