How to Make Slump Glass
Slump glass requires heating glass and bending it into a shape using a mold. Heating and gravity lower the glass onto or into a mold as it softens. Molds can be made of stainless steel or clay. Commercial molds come in a variety of shapes. When making slump glass, you can use any kind of glass. Several different companies offer a large range of glass to purchase for making slump glass.

Choose the glass that you want to slump. The color and texture will be your choice. If you are purchasing your glass, it will come in a sheet. This is a flat piece of glass and is 1/8 inch thick. You can purchase glass that is thinner or thicker. You will want a piece of glass that will cover your mold. Cut your glass to fit the shape of your mold.

Prepare the mold. The mold that you use will need to be prepared with a kiln wash. Kiln wash protects your glass from sticking to the mold. Apply a thin coat of kiln wash to the mold with a brush and let dry. You will need to do this three times. If using the fiber paper, which also protects your glass from sticking to the mold, cut the fiber paper to the size of the mold.
