There's nothing like a fun day in the sun, until you get home to find your skin red and burning. Sunburn can be very painful and if not treated it can blister and peel adding to the pain. Sunburn in severe cases can lead to dehydration and sun stroke. Be sure and drink plenty of fluids while your sunburn is healing. The best thing to do is to prevent it from happening in the first place by using an SPF lotion and avoiding midday sun. If you should happen to get a sunburn, treat it as soon as you can, and avoid further exposure to the sun until your sunburn has healed. The good news is that natural home remedies have been found to be very effective in treating sunburn. Here are some ways to use natural home remedies for sunburn.

    Apple Cider Vinegar
    Apple Cider Vinegar is a great home remedy for sunburn and provides relief from the burning and stinging associated with sunburn. It can also relieve that hot feeling you get when you are sunburned. Apple Cider Vinegar will also help keep you from peeling. Apply to sunburned skin with a soft cloth or cotton balls as often as needed. Make sure skin is unbroken.

    To encourage quicker healing of sunburn take 1000 mg of Vitamin C daily.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never use greasy ointments, butter, baby oil, benzocaine, petroleum jelly, or lidocaine on a sunburn. This will only damage the skin further by frying it, because they trap the heat. Sunburn needs to be exposed to the air to heal.
  • Don't use harsh or strong soaps on a sunburn.
  • Never pop a sunburn blister. The blister is your bodies natural protective covering and helps the healing process of the sunburn. It will pop on its own when it is ready.
