Instructions

    • 1

Place the oils and other ingredients out on the counter and let sit for at least an hour, which brings them up to room temperature. Mixing them when they are too cold or too warm prevents things from mixing together.

    • 2

Combine the oils, lanolin and wax in a small microwave safe bowl until well mixed. Place the mixture in the microwave and cook on high for 45 seconds. Remove and mix everything together before placing it back in the microwave for another 45 seconds. Do this until the wax is melted and the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

    • 3

Add the distilled water, aloe vera and Vitamin C capsules into a bowl and mix well. If you prefer a scented face cream, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil at this time. For those who like their lotions and creams unscented, continue mixing.

    • 4

Pour the oil mixture into the water mixture and keep mixing. As you mix, you'll notice that the mixture gets firmer and thicker. When it reaches the desired consistency, stop mixing. It might take awhile to reach a thicker consistency.

    • 5

Fill your jar with the face cream mixture and keep stored in the refrigerator. It is helpful to leave a note on the front so others know what's inside. The finished cream will keep for several weeks and over a month if left in a cold place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a hand-held mixer or a high speed mixer if you are impatient. Mixing the cream by hand can take 30 minutes or longer just to firm up. Look for Vitamin C capsules that contain a liquid version of the vitamin for ease of mixing.

  • If you forget and leave the face cream sitting in a warm place for several hours, throw it out and start again. The heat will cause the oils in the cream to separate and render it useless.
