Burning a digital video disc (DVD) without a DVD writer is virtually impossible. There is, however, still a way to get your DVD movies onto a standard recordable compact disc (CD-R) or rewritable CD (CD-RW) using your CD burner. Utilizing a popular application, one can easily back up a movie to a video compact disc (VCD). The only difference between a VCD and a normal DVD is that a VCD may not be playable in all DVD players.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Tips & Warnings
  • The Cucusoft tool offers many advanced options to control the output of your video file, such as aspect ratio and quality.
  • VCDs are playable on computers and most modern DVD players. Check with your DVD player's specifications to make sure it plays VCDs. Check with your local laws regarding the copying/burning of copyrighted content. Depending on the size of your video, the application may ask you to enter additional discs during the burning phase.
