How to Make Birthday Invitations on the Computer
Whether it's for children or adults, create original birthday party invitations on the computer that look like they were professionally designed and printed. - White card stock
- Paper cutter

Open a Word program and select "WordArt Gallery" from the toolbox. Select the style you want to use for the birthday party invitations as a 5-inch by 7-inch postcard.

Compose an invitation that includes the following: You are invited to a birthday party for [enter the name of the birthday person] on [enter the date and time] at [enter the location of the party]. Provide a map of the party location and request all guests RSVP by a certain date. Provide a phone number where guests can RSVP.

Select the lettering to have a change in color other than black which is the default color. Choose the desired front color for the lettering from the formatting tool bar in the Word program by clicking the color box. The lettering on the invitation can also be a combination of different font colors instead of just one color. Block the letters to be changed in color and select the color from the color box on the tool bar.

Enhance the birthday party invitation by inserting one or two free birthday themed clip art from the Internet such as a birthday cake, balloons, presents or other appropriately themed art. Group the invitation wording and clip art together into one image by holding the cursor down at one top corner of the objects and pulling it down to "catch" the art and words. Finish by clicking the "grouping" icon and make them one image.

Resize the invitation to a 5-inch by 7-inch birthday party invitation postcard. Copy and past the invitation on the same page and make two invitations per page. Print as many invitations as are needed to send to all invited guests.

Cut each invitation out on the paper cutter. Address the envelopes, insert a birthday party invitation into each one and mail to guests. Check with postal service to make sure of proper postage needed.
