Dishwashers are a housekeeping godsend. They are easy-to-use, sanitary and, if you are using an energy-efficient dishwasher, it's actually more environmentally responsible to use a dishwasher than to wash your dishes by hand. But even energy-efficient dishwashers can stop working efficiently if there is a problem with the drainage or if there is something blocking the strainer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Torque screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Remove the dish shelves/baskets so you have room to work.

  2. Step 2

Unscrew the plastic screws around the lower spray arm. Remove the arm.

  3. Step 3

Remove the plastic tube that moves the water between the two spray arms. Unhinge the top and middle clips from the tube. Gently wiggle it out.

  4. Step 4

Turn the tube at the bottom of the dishwasher 1/4 of the way around and remove the tube.

  5. Step 5

Unscrew the four Torq screws on the strainer cover. Remove the strainer.
