Things You'll Need:
- Original Photoshop CS2 (Version. 9.0) CD
- Ubuntu administrator password
-
Step 1
Open the Ubuntu main menu, hover over "Accessories," then click on "Terminal." At the terminal prompt, type (or copy and paste) "wget -q http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/387EE263.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -" (without quotes), and then hit the "Enter" key.
-
Step 2
Enter your administrator password when prompted, and then hit the "Enter" key again. This command adds the Wine APT security key to your list of trusted software repositories.
-
Step 3
Type "sudo wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/intrepid.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list" then hit "Enter." This command adds the Wine software repository for Ubuntu 8.10. For other versions of Ubuntu, change "intrepid" in the command line to your particular Ubuntu version.
-
Step 4
Type "sudo apt-get update" then hit "Enter," then type "sudo apt-get install cabextract wine" and hit "Enter" again. This command installs Wine and any dependencies necessary to run Windows programs in Ubuntu. It also installs a utility that can extract Windows cabinet (.cab) files.
-
Step 5
Type "wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks; sh winetricks corefonts vcrun6" and hit "Enter," then type "wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks; sh winetricks gecko gdiplus" and hit "Enter" again. These two commands install a few "Wine tricks" or tweaks that help Windows programs run better in Linux.
-
Step 6
Insert your Photoshop CS2 CD in the optical drive. In the window that opens, go to the "Adobe Photoshop CS2" directory, right-click on the "setup.exe" file, and choose "Open with Wine Windows Program Loader."
-
Step 7
Follow the prompts in the Photoshop CS2 installation wizard to complete the installation. After Photoshop is installed, go to the main Ubuntu menu, move your cursor over "Wine," then "Programs," and then click on "Photoshop CS2" to start the program.
