How to Make a Concrete Vanity Top
Adding a new vanity top makes for a quick decor overhaul in any bathroom. Making it from an exotic stone will certainly add spice, but at a large cost. Making it out of concrete provides the same flair, but at a much lower cost since it can be done by the average homeowner without hiring a professional. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure the vanity. Add the desired overhang to the measurement and cut a piece of melamine to this size.
-
2
Screw two-inch strips of melamine to the edge of the large piece and caulk the seams to build the form.
-
-
3
Cut rebar or wire mesh to fit inside the form. Tie the rebar or mesh to the outside of the form with wire to prevent it from touching the bottom of the form, which will be the top of the vanity.
-
4
Pour the form half full with concrete. Vibrate the concrete by gently tapping the sides of the form, or use a random orbit sander and run it on top of the concrete. Do this for several minutes to get rid of any voids in the concrete.
-
5
Finish pouring the concrete until it is flush with the top of the sides of the form. Repeat the vibration process from the previous step. Allow the concrete to cure for several days.
-
6
Untie the support wires from the form and unscrew the sides of the form from the bottom of the form. Cut the support wires off flush with the surface of the concrete.
-
7
Flip the concrete vanity top over and remove the melamine. Install the counter top by running a bead of adhesive along the top of the vanity. Use a grinder to cut out the hole for the sink.
-
8
Seal the concrete using a concrete sealer, reapplying the sealer after 24 hours. Let dry, and the vanity top is ready to use.

Tips & Warnings
Stain the concrete to change color. Place flowers or leaves on the bottom of the form prior to pouring the concrete to make decorative patterns in the vanity top.
