Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaners were the first dual-cyclonic vacuums on the U.S. market. Invented by James Dyson, the vacuum is bagless and is renowned for its suction and cleaning capacity. The vacuum uses a system of two lifetime filters that will never be replaced. Although they will last for a lifetime, you do need to clean Dyson DC07 filters.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dyson 07 vacuum
  • Running water
  1. Step 1

Locate the filters on the front of the bottom portion of the vacuum. There is a small tab on the outer portion that needs to be released in order to pull the piece out. Release this tab and pull the entire section out.

  2. Step 2

Separate the two filters from one another. You will have one piece that has a hard plastic shell with "spokes," and the other piece is soft foam with the word "Dyson" printed all over it.

  3. Step 3

Rinse both pieces under cold running water. If you have a sprayer gun at your kitchen sink, this works well to rinse the outer hard-framed filter. Avoid using hot water, and do not use soap or cleaners of any kind.

Rinse the soft foam filter with running water, gently squeezing occasionally.

Both pieces should be rinsed until the water runs clear.

  4. Step 4

Shake out excess water and place both filters in a warm, sunny location, such as a window sill. Do not place near or on radiators, and do not put either filter in the clothes dryer. Allow at least twelve hours for both pieces to dry completely.

  5. Step 5

Reassemble the filters, putting the soft foam filter into the hard filter. Make sure that the words "Dyson" are visible and facing out when the filters are fitted together. If you can't see the words, you have the soft filter in backwards, and you need to flip it.

Tips & Warnings
  • For proper function of the machine, the filters should be cleaned every six months. Do this more often if you have dogs or a large shedding dog.
