How to Make a Tripod Deer Feeder

A tripod deer feeder can be made with just branches and rope. You can set it up to attract deer to an area to observe them, or a hunter can use one to attract hungry animals. This is a fast, easy, cheap way to make one.

Things You'll Need

• 2 feet of heavy-duty hemp rope
• Branches

Instructions

1. Find three branches roughly the same width and length. They don't have to be exactly the same size. You can break down longer ones if necessary.

2. Arrange the three branches in a tripod configuration, with three ends on the ground and the other three ends leaning against each other and extending past the point where they cross. Don't worry if they are not stable, because you will lash them together. The branches will look like the frame of a sloppy tepee.

3. With the rope, tie the three ends together. Wrap the rope around the top, then knot it several times, using strong square knots. You will have a triangular base for support and a top that has been joined for stability.

4. Hang a bucket of feeder bait on the tripod, or place a salt lick block on top of the tripod.
