If you like wolves, you will love making your own lupine friends out of pipe cleaners. This inexpensive arts and crafts project is fun and easy for children of all ages and skill levels. Wolves are usually gray, white or brown, but feel free to use any color of pipe cleaner and materials to customize as desired with felt, ribbon, sequins, pom poms or any other crafting material that will add personality and color to your wolf.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut a strip of pipe cleaner into four 3-inch pieces. Bend one piece into a circle and twist to connect. This will form a neck for your wolf.

  2. Step 2

Cut another strip of pipe cleaner into three 4-inch pieces. Bend one piece into a circle and twist to connect.

  3. Step 3

Connect your two circles, smaller one on top, with your remaining 3-inch strips. Position about an inch apart. These pieces will form your wolf's back and body.

  4. Step 4

Start from the smaller circle (the wolf's neck) and connect your two remaining 4-inch strips approximately ½ inch apart to make legs. Position these outwards.

  5. Step 5

Cut another strip of pipe cleaner into a 4-inch piece. Connect from base of larger circle and bend upwards to make a tail.

  6. Step 6

Cut a piece of pipe cleaner into a 5-inch strip and a 4-inch strip. Connect the ends of your 5-inch strip and bend into a triangle shape. Repeat with 4-inch strip. These triangle shapes will be the head of your wolf.

  7. Step 7

Cut a piece of pipe cleaner into a 5-inch strip. Connect to the back side of the neck of your wolf, then loop through the center your two triangle shapes, with the larger triangle on top. Bring your piece down and connect to the front of your wolf's neck.

  8. Step 8

Fold two 1-inch strips of pipe cleaner in half to make your wolf's ears. Connect to the back of your larger triangle.

  9. Step 9

Cut a piece of pipe cleaner into eight 1-inch strips. Connect two to each front leg to make front paws. Connect two to your larger circle to make back paws.

  10. Step 10

Cut a piece of pipe cleaner to fit across the width of your triangle head. Connect into place by twisting together. Hot glue "googly" eyes onto this piece to add personality to your wolf.

Tips & Warnings
  • While it is optional, it is a good idea to hot glue all the seams of your pipe cleaner wolf together for increased stability.
  • Pipe cleaners are a versatile crafting supply that are appropriate for children, though they may need adult supervision to make all cuts. Adult supervision is also suggested for any use of hot glue guns.
