Piloting an electric helicopter is similar to playing a video game flight simulator. The basic idea is to keep the nose of the helicopter leveled out when trying to land and not to slam down too hard. The best type of electric helicopters for beginners are coaxial, rather than ones with a tail rotor. Coaxial electric helicopters are ready to fly right out of the box, without any experience.

How to Fly an Electric Helicopter

  1. Step 1

Turn on the helicopter and remote control.

  2. Step 2

Pull back gently on the acceleration joystick. This will cause the helicopter to climb or take off from the ground. Pulling the acceleration joystick back quickly causes it to climb rapidly.

  3. Step 3

Push forward on the acceleration joystick to make the helicopter descend. When attempting to land, gently push forward on the joystick to prevent damage to its landing gear.

  4. Step 4

Adjust the "yaw" joystick by moving it left or right. This moves the helicopter side to side.

  5. Step 5

Land the electric helicopter by gently pushing forward on the acceleration joystick. Do not move the yaw controls, or the landing may fail.

Tips & Warnings
  • For beginners, anti-crash kits can be purchased that help stabilize its flight pattern and reduce it from flipping or rolling.
  • When using two of the same type of electrical helicopter within a 500-foot radius, make sure they are on separate channels.
