Instructions

    • 1

Locate the drain access plug. With any luck this will be outside, but may be located in the basement or cellar.

    • 2

Remove the drain access plug using the pipe wrench. Be prepared for water spillage.

    • 3

After plugging in the Roto-Rooter and installing a bit, begin feeding the metal cable into the drain access. Feed it slowly, but attempt to keep a steady pace.

    • 4

Set the motor to "Forward" and engage the start switch. The metal cable will begin to turn in your hands. Continue to guide it into the drain.

    • 5

Feed the cable into the drain until the clog is removed or until you run out of cable.

    • 6

Turn the motor to "Reverse" and begin pulling the cable out of the drain. At the same time you will need to feed it back into the spool on the Roto-Rooter.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear hand and eye protection in case of splashing sewage. Use a garden hose to clean the machine and cable after use.

  • Do not allow to much slack in the cable going into the drain. Excess cable has a tendency to bind and can flip out of your hands. It is painful when the loose cable slaps your hands or forearms.
