How to Replace a Kirby Classic Vacuum Belt

Adjust the height level on your Kirby Classic vacuum cleaner by moving the adjustment lever to the highest position. The height adjustment lever can be found on the top of the vacuum base, near the back.

Turn the unit over so that the bottom cover plate is facing you. Remove the cover plate by undoing the screws on the plate with a screwdriver and lifting the plate off of the vacuum base.

Lift one end of the brush roller from the vacuum base and remove the old belt from around the end and from the drive pin on the other end of the vacuum base.

Place the new vacuum belt around the drive pin and then around the brush roller of the vacuum. Pull the brush roller back to place tension on the belt and move the roller back into place.

Place the vacuum base cover back on the unit and secure with the screws. Turn your Kirby Classic vacuum upright and lower the height adjustment. Plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet and turn it on to verify that the belt is working properly.
