How to Put a Seat Cover on a Dirt Bike

Seat covers are a great way to enhance not only the look but also the riding comfort of your dirt bike. Many seat covers have great grip options that help riders gain extra control in corners, and when riding trails. The process of putting new seat covers on dirt bikes is quite simply, and requires only a few common tools.

Things You'll Need

• Standard socket wrench set
• Small flathead screwdriver
• Industrial grade staple gun

Instructions

1. Remove the dirt bike's seat by unscrewing the seat's mounting bolts using a socket wrench. In many cases, these mounting bolts are accessed under the motorcycle's side panel plastics.

2. Lie the seat upside down on a flat surface.

3. Remove the seat's current seat cover by pulling its staples out using a flathead screwdriver. This process, though it can be a pain sometimes, is required for a good seat cover installation.

4. Turn the seat over, and place the new seat cover over the seat. Stretch the seat cover over the surface, paying specific attention to how it should fit. Begin by securing the seat cover with several staples under the front of the seat.

5. Work your way around the underneath the seat, securing the new seat cover with a staple every inch. Be sure to stretch the cover as much as possible to prevent ripples and humps.

Tips & Warnings

• It may be desirable to have another person help you hold the new seat cover as you staple it down.

• Always use caution when working with sharp staples.
