Instructions

    • 1

Add one cup of chlorine bleach to one gallon of hot water, taking care not to get the bleach solution on your skin or clothing.

    • 2

Pour the bleach solution slowly onto the shingle, making sure you saturate all areas where the black mold is growing. Let stand for 15 minutes.

    • 3

Remove the now-dead mold by sweeping briskly with a broom in a back-and-forth motion.

    • 4

Rinse with clear running water from a garden hose; if the shingle is on a roof, take care not to allow the water to run up and under the shingle.

    • 5

      Allow to air dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Black mold will eventually return unless the shingle receives more light and air.

  • Always use eye protection when using chlorine bleach.
