How to Make February Themed Centerpieces

While February is a cold month, it is also elegant. It conjures up visions of cold snow and contrasting warm white fur. It brings thoughts of Valentine's Day along with red roses and velvet. The centerpieces outlined here feature red roses, white carnations and ferns with soft marabou feathering the arrangements. Instructions

    • 1

Count the number of bowls you'll need for centerpieces. Measure the circumference of the bowl's opening. Get a strip of marabou from the craft store long enough to wrap around the top of each bowl. Measure out and cut a strip of marabou for each bowl. Use a hot glue gun to make a circle of marabou around the top of each.

    • 2

Purchase clear glass stones from the dollar store to cover the bottom of each bowl. Lay glass stones along the bottom of the glass, forming them into a mound.

    • 3

Arrange sprigs of deep green ferns around the edges of the bowl, laying it so the marabou is visible through the lacy fern.

    • 4

Place rings of white carnations in the bowl alongside the green ferns. Once the first ring is finished add another until you reach the center.

    • 5

Add three red roses to the center of each bowl so the arrangement gets progressively taller toward the center. Leave the stems long enough so the roses sit slightly above the carnations.

    • 6

Cut small snowflakes from white paper. Add a light layer of glue. Sprinkle the snowflakes lightly with silver glitter. Shake off the excess. Attach green florist wire to each snowflake. Cut tiny red hearts from construction paper. Glue these to florist wire stems. Dot each floral arrangement with a handful of snowflakes and hearts tucked in among the circle of carnations.

Tips & Warnings

  • As a variation of red roses, try giant Shasta daisies sprinkled with silver as the center flower.
