How to Make My Bed Look Like a Hammock

Drift off to sleep with the feeling of being in a hammock by camouflaging your bed with decorative netting. The net mimics the open, knotted surface of a hammock, and rope attached to your ceiling and the ends of the net makes the hammock bed appear to be suspended and able to swing. In order to give this appearance, the head and the foot of the bed must be several feet away from walls. Complete the laid-back summertime look of your bedroom with nautical-themed accessories. Instructions

    • 1

Lay the net on the floor under the bed. Center the net so that equal amounts stick out from the head and the foot of the bed and equal distances are on each side.

    • 2

Cut small holes in the net and insert the legs of the bed through the holes.

    • 3

Pull up the ends of the net at the head and foot of the bed. On each end, gather together the net and weave the net through the opening of the split-ring washer.

    • 4

Install the swag hooks on the ceiling above and 3 feet out from the head and foot of the bed. Be sure the hooks are centered across the width of the bed.

    • 5

Make a knotted loop at the end of a length of rope. Hook the loop over the ceiling hook at the head of the bed. Slip the other end of the rope through the split ring washer holding the net. Pull up to desired height. Tie off. Repeat for the foot of the bed.
