Perhaps you are hosting an outdoor wedding ceremony at a gazebo tucked away in a secluded park. Or maybe you are planning a gazebo-inspired wedding on your town green. Whatever the case, using and decorating a gazebo for your wedding allows you to add a splash of personal style or build upon a wedding theme in a distinctive way.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gazebo
  • Gazebo grip clips
  • Other types of decoration fasteners (such as heavy-duty tape or string)
  • Miniature white lights
  • Floral garland
  • Ivy swag base and artificial flowers in your wedding's colors (or a floral swag made by your wedding florist)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks, or floral wire
  • Two large potted flowers
  • Tulle fabric
  • Rose petals
  • Luminaries or lanterns
  1. Step 1

Entwine plenty of twinkling white lights around gazebo banisters, columns, rafters and roofs to add an air of elegance and simple beauty to your event. Use eave grip clips to secure lights to the top of the gazebo. Wrap lights in flowered garlands available at home and craft stores.

  2. Step 2

Make a large floral swag using hot glue or floral wire to secure artificial flowers to an ivy swag base (or ask your wedding florist to make this arrangement). Secure the floral swag to the front of the gazebo using gazebo grip clips. Flank the swag on both sides with two large potted flowers on the floor or top step. This frames a grand entrance for a couple holding their ceremony in the gazebo.

  3. Step 3

Wrap layers of tulle around gazebo banisters, columns, poles and railings, as well as across the gazebo roof line using gazebo grip clips or other fastener. Use less than 2 yards tulle for an understated look or several yards for a more lavish, grand feeling.

  4. Step 4

Scatter rose petals all over the gazebo floor as well as pathways and stairs leading up to the gazebo.

  5. Step 5

Place lighted luminaries or lanterns on pathways and stairs. If trees are nearby, hang lanterns from sturdy branches to light the path to the gazebo wedding.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check with the gazebo owner before you get started to see if he has any decoration preferences. For example, she may prohibit lighted candles or prefer gazebo grip clips over tape as a fastener. Never leave lighted candles unattended.
