If you are planning to decorate a nursery or a classroom for young children, you might want to consider decorating with a nursery rhyme theme. Nursery rhymes are very popular among young children, and decorations that reflect the timeless tales will no doubt interest and delight your little ones. With so many different nursery rhymes, you have a lot of options to choose from.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nursery rhymes
  • Paint
  • Paper
  • Tape
  • Crayons
  • Scissors
  • Yarn
  • Stapler
  1. Step 1

Choose your favorite nursery rhymes to decide what decorations to make. Review the lyrics to many nursery rhymes at Zelo.com, from "Humpty Dumpty" to "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." You may want to incorporate several different rhymes into your decorations or stick with a theme, such as rhymes involving counting or a certain animal, such as a mouse or a sheep.

  2. Step 2

Paint a wall mural to reflect your favorite rhymes. If you do not want to paint on the actual wall, you can use large sheets of paper, paint your nursery rhyme pictures and tape it onto the wall. Use crepe paper sheets if you plan to focus on different nursery rhymes throughout different parts of the year. You can also hang paper from your door and paint part of the mural on it.

  3. Step 3

Hang lyrics to the nursery rhymes you love. Using large pieces of paper, write out the lyrics in big bold letters. Using educational rhymes such as "One, Two Buckle My Shoe" will help children learn everyday concepts such as counting and reading, while enjoying the poem.

  4. Step 4

Print out pictures from popular nursery rhymes at Nurseryrhymes4u.com. Have children color your pictures, or color them yourself for a more polished look. Hang the pictures on the wall to add to your nursery rhyme theme. You may even want to hang them besides their lyrics.

  5. Step 5

Use your ceiling in your decorating process. Draw, color and cut out stars for the rhyme "Star Light, Star Bright." Attach pieces of string or yarn to the tips of your stars with a stapler and tape them to the ceiling. You may also want to hang up a moon. Have older children write the poem on one side of the star and color the other side.
